Young Athletes League at Maidstone
The club was in action over the May Bank Holiday weekend on Sunday competing in the Young Athlete’s League at Maidstone in Kent. It was a disappointing result for the club as it was not possible to field a full team of athletes. As a result Lewes AC had to settle for 5th position of the six teams competing. There are two more league matches to go so still time to make up the points.
However whilst there were depleted numbers in the team there were some very good individual results. In the pole vault events Lewes AC athletes won all the age group categories. In the under 17 men A event James Shackleton cleared 3.30m for first position and Bryce Williams-Watson cleared 3.00m to win the B event. In the under 15 men’s A event Luca Bish cleared 1.90m to win and Hannah MacDonald in the under 17 women’s event cleared 2.30m to win her age category. To complete the clean sweep the under 15 girls were not to be out done and Livvy Connor cleared 3.00m to win the A event and Polly Saunders cleared 2.20m to win the B event.
In other events there were some excellent Lewes AC results including first places for Livvy Connor in the under 15 women’s high jump of 1.45m and Evan Carter in the under 17 men’s 400m hurdles in a time of 68.6secs. Other first places included Sam Rogers in the 800m under 15 A race in a time of 2mins 22.2secs and Connor Sullivan in the 800m B race in a time of 2mins 24secs.
