Tom Evans in the Costa Rica Coastal Challenge
Have a look at the Costa Challenge web site and see what Tom Evans a Lewes AC member is taking on. Not content with being the first Brit to medal in Marathon Des Sable Tom is about to take on the world over 236km in Costa Rica Coastal Challenge
Known locally as the ‘Rainforest Run,’ the Challenge is a stage race over six days from the 11th to the 18th of February. It is run every year along Costa Rica’s lush and tropical Pacific coastline. The course weaves in and out of the Talamancas which is a coastal mountain range spread across the southwest corner of the country. It’s part jungle, part trail and part alpine race. In short the Challenge is an assault course of topography.
The course takes runners up mountains, through rainforests, along dirt tracks, over ridges, and up to highlands and coastal ranges. The Costa Rica Coastal Challenge is said to be bursting with terrain variety. The course description goes on to say the course runs along spectacular beaches, past reefs; through tantalisingly clear river estuaries and up and over barren rocky outcrops to the Unesco World Heritage site, the Corcovado National Park.
Phew, indeed a challenge and we all wish Tom all the very best in this Challenge – Good luck and have a great run.
