The men’s team prize and individual awards for Lewes runners in the Barns Green Half Marathon
With 4 runners in the top seven at the Barns Green Half Marathon the Lewes AC men’s team ran away with the team prize. Not only content with winning the team prize each of the team won personal awards in their own right.
Leading the way for Lewes AC in the race with over 1000 runners was Ben Savill who was third in the 13.1 mile race in a time of 73mins 26sec. This time was also gave Ben third position in the senior men’s age category. Just two seconds behind in 4th position was David Bradford in a time of 73mins 28secs. This position and time also meant David was 4th in the senior men’s age group.
Leading the charge in the men aged over 45 was Lewis Sida who finished in a fantastic 6th position overall in a time of 76mins 29secs. This not only helped the Lewes AC men’s team to win but also meant Lewis was the first man in the age group 45-49. This time also meant Lewis led the age graded percentages with 84.14%. This is based on how close in percentage terms runners are to a world best time for their particular age group. Also competing well in the men aged over 45 was Allan Jackson who claimed 5th position in the age category with in a half marathon time of 88mins 00secs.
Also having a fantastic race and having returned from a long lay off with injury was Chris Gilbert who finished 7th overall in the race with a time of 67mins 54sec. This time gave Chris first place in the men aged over 40. Not far behind Chris and finishing 5th in the men over 40 was Lee Woodgate who finished in a time of 84mins 14secs. Also running in this age group was Carl Dowling who finished with a time of 103:03mins
Leading the Lewes AC charge for men over 60 was Andrew Chitty who finished second in this age category with a time of 93mins 13secs. One place behind Andrew in the race was Dominic Osman-Allu who had a time of 93mins 41secs. This gave Dominic 10th position in the men aged over 50. Also in the men aged over 50 category and finishing 18th in this category was Simon Roberts with a time of 97mins 12secs.
