Sussex Schools Cross Country Championships, 21 January 2012
Lewes Athletes to go to English Schools
With great runs at the Sussex Schools Cross Country Championships at the weekend Maddy Smith and Ludo Goodliffe both qualified to run at the National English Schools Cross Country Championships at Taunton in Somerset in March. Maddy was fourth in her race in Sussex in a time of 19mins.01sec and Ludo was third and a bronze medal winner in a time of 23mins.22 over a longer course. Tim Calliafas running in the same race as Ludo came in 10th in a time of 25mins59secs and qualified to run in the South East Inter- Counties Championships at Basildon.
There were also some great performances in the boy’s year 8 race with Aidan Briffett finishing in 8th position in 16mins, Connor Sullivan 13th (16mins22secs) Sam Rogers 14th (16mins.24secs) Tom Lambert 23rd (16mins59secs).These performances qualified Aidan, Connor and Sam to run in the South East Inter- Counties Championships at Basildon. Joining them will be Evie Rothwell, Tim Calliafas and Angel Collins who has also qualified to compete at the National Inter-counties event at Birmingham in March
In the junior girls years 8/9 race Romy Loughman came in 48th in 15mins.02secs and in the intermediate boys race Patrick McManus came 26th in a time of 21mins.32secs. In the intermediate girls race Evie Rothwell was placed 14th in a time of 16mins.06secs and Amy Davilla 25th in a time of 17mins.54secs.
