Last weekend was the English School Cross Country Championships at Ilton near Taunton in Somerset where the best 300 runners from schools from 39 Counties compete as teams and as individuals. Congratulations to Josh Burgess who over the weekend won the Prison Service National Cross Country Championship at Birmingham. Running for the Lewes Prison, where Josh works, he had a great run to finish first and become National Champion. Now in its 28th year the Lewes Athletic Club is again organising its festival of running and Fun Run at the Lewes Running track on Easter Monday. There will be running events for all the family from toddlers to the more experienced runners. On Saturday Lewes AC runners took part in the Sussex Primary Schools Cross Country Championships on Bexhill Downs and produced two excellent performances. Ben Walters came 5th in the boys’ race and Danielle Jacobs 18th in the girls race.

A much higher turnout of the Red and Yellow Lewes vests than in previous years. 15 athletes returned to Sussex from Sutton with 14 medals and no fewer than 10 club Indoor records.
