Littlehampton Beach Run
On Wednesday evening a team of 18 runners made the trip from Lewes to take part in the annual Littlehampton Beach Run. It was a beautiful early summer evening with just a hint of a Westerly breeze but there was some apprehension about the idea of running 5 miles on sand. In fact only about 2/3 of the race was along the beach, on firm sand, and for those who could appreciate it the setting was spectacular.
The first three Lewes AC men to finish were Pablo Ibarguren (30:45, 10th man), Chris Hunt (32:16, 16th) and Colin Bennett (33:10, 27th), and the first three women were Katherine Emery (38:05, 6th woman), Carole Walters (39:13, 15th) and Clare Anstee (41:55, 24th).
Altogether the team came home with 75 points (out of a maximum possible of 85), finishing 4th, and consolidating our position as 8th out of 17 in the West Sussex Fun Run League, and most improved team since 2011. Congratulations to all who ran!
The next WSFRL race is the Hove Park Races 5k at midday on 10 June.
