Lewes AC runners tackle the Beachy Head Marathon

17 Lewes AC runners decided that they would spend their Saturday taking on one of the toughest marathons in the South East. Not content with running in excess of 26 miles there are 300 steps and 14 gates to tackle along the route. After starting in Eastbourne the marathon route goes through Jevington, Alfriston and Friston Forest before finishing across Seven Sisters and Beachy Head.

With such a challenging route to finish under 4 hours is a major achievement. 5 Lewes runners managed to break this target with Mark Cage finishing in 31st position with a time of 3hours 33mins 18secs. Also well within the 4 hours was Megan Taylor who finished 91st overall with a time of 3.52.28. This placed Megan as the 16th women to finish in the race with 1,425 finishers.

Also finishing within the 4 hours were Shane Duncan 87th (3.50.56); Dominic Osman-Allu 108th (3.55.52) and Lee Chapman 115th (3.57.49)

Other Lewes finishers were Sally Norris 177th (4.10.07); Simon Roberts 183rd (4.11.10); Gustavo Iriate 191st (4.12.40); Tony Deacon 215th (4.15.20); Max Soudain 324th (4.28.25); Carole Walters 379th (4.34.34); John Carroll 527th (4.50.55); Tony Stilwell 572nd (4.55.20); Francis Witt 615th (5.01.13); Liz Hilton 716th (5.14.23); Andrea Ingram 767th (5.21.51) and Neil Baker 1070th (6.07.47)
