Lewes AC has to Battle for points in the Southern Athletics League

Whilst Lewes AC secured a great result at the Heathfield 10K on Sunday a somewhat depleted Lewes team was battling for points in the Southern Athletics League match at the Lewes track on the Saturday. Up against strong teams from Yeovil and Aldershot the Lewes team nevertheless had some great results particularly from the Lewes AC women.

Livvy Connor had a great match winning three of her events. She was first in the pole vault (A) with a vault of 3.35m which was also the height achieved by Emily Blackwell in winning the (B) pole vault. The other first place by Livvy included the 200m (A) won in a time of 27.1 secs with Millie Cable winning the (B) race in 27.9 secs. The 100m hurdles race was also won by Livvy in a time of 16,2secs.

Other winning results included Anna Hopcroft in the Hammer throw with 42.28m: Izzie Coomber in the 3000m (A) with a time of 10mins 55.1 secs backed up by Lizzie Keep winning the (B) race in a time 11mins 35.3 secs; Emma Robertson won the 400m race in a time of 62.2 secs and also won the 1500m in a time of 4mins 54.7secs.

The only first place on the men’s side was achieved by James Shackleton who won the men’s (A) pole vault with a vault of 3.80m. Just missing out winning the men’s 800m race was Patrick McManus who also just missed breaking the magical 2.00minute mark with a time of 2mins.00.6seconds.

Overall the Lewes Team secured third place with 249 points behind Yeovil with 343 points and Aldershot Farnham and District with 256 points. In 4th position was Holland Sports with 84 points and Invicta East Kent with 83 points.
