Karin competes for England and is third in her age group and first for Sussex
Lewes AC athlete Karin Divall was selected to compete as part of a Masters England Team running at the Birmingham 10K on Sunday 6th April. The England team comprised 89 athletes aged 35 and over from across England who met England Athletics qualification criteria at the 10K distance.
The Masters Women’s team proudly wearing their England vests, started the race directly behind the elite women competitors at the head of this popular race which included 7000 runners. The Masters men’s team starting with the elite men half an hour later.
The event was really well organised and the race comprised a twisting, undulating course out from the City Centre towards Edgbaston Cricket ground, returning to the City Centre for the finish, with lots of music and support along the way. Unfortunately all the best preparations could not take account of our English weather and despite a water station and run-through shower, the heat took it’s toll on many of the runners including Karin.
Karin had travelled to Birmingham with a group of 13 other Sussex men and women, and Karin Divall was first Sussex woman home in 44.23, and the third overall in her age category (vet 55).
