Horsham Indoor Sprints and Hurdles, 12 January 2012

15 young athletes from the club travelled to Horsham to take part in an indoor sprints and hurdles competition in the ‘tube’ at Broadbridge Heath. With the weather as cold as it has been this was a good choice and there were some good performances.

Livvy Connor was first across the line in the 50m hurdles under 15 age group race in a time of 8.6sec and third in a closely fought 50m race in a time of 7.3secs. There were also some very good performances in the same race with Millie Cable 5th in a time of 7.6sec and Polly Saunders and Jade Bowman crossing the line together in 7.8sec and Millie Hemsley finishing in 8.2sec.

In the senior women’s race Katie Hogg was placed third in a time of 7.3secs

In the under 13 girls 50m sprint Lewes AC had the first three places with Grace Salter taking first place in 7.9sec, Dannielle Jacobs second in 8.1secs and Anna Perrett third in 8.2secs. In the same race three other Lewes AC athletes broke the 9.0sec barrier with Lucy Boyd (8.3secs) Rosie Pryor (8.6secs) and Hannah Lewis (8.7secs)

Aaron Guilford won the under 20 men’s event in a time of 6.6secs. In the under 17 men’s race Luke Staples was second in a time of 7.5secs and in the senior men’s race Tom Woodall finished in a time of 6.7secs.
