Horsham 10K – Fine second place for David Bradford

Lewes competitors for Sunday’s Horsham 10k were somewhat depleted, owing to a clash with the Bognor 10k and with other events.

In the Horsham 10K Lewes AC’s David Bradford finished second, clocking 33mins 50secs, with which he was more than satisfied, given the undulating course and having begun to increase his training mileage in preparation for the Berlin Marathon in September.

It was a lonely second place for Bradford – 45secs behind the winner, Horsham Joggers’ Andy Robinson (a former national-level steeplechaser), and more than two minutes ahead of third-placed Steve Nicholls (Horsham Joggers).

The other Lewes finishers were, in 23rd Anthony Shaw 40:24; 31st Colin Bennett 41:12; 34th Matt Homewood 41:36; 53rd Tony Deacon 43:33 (PB); 78th Tim Monson 45:28; 126th Bob Hughes 48:22, 126th; and 197th David Feintuck 53:47.

Down on the coast in Bognor, Ethiopia’s Tadele Geremew stormed to victory in 30mins 37secs.

First home for Lewes AC was Allan Jackson, who notched up a personal best in 41:12 finishing 76th. The other Lewes finishers were, in 126th Miles Seavill 43:07; and 802nd Andrea Campbell 55:50.
