Hamilton Thomas has passed away
I am sad to announce that long-time Lewes Athletic Club member Hamilton Thomas has passed away. He died peacefully in his sleep last week. Many of you may not have met Hamilton, but most would have seen him throwing the hammer and discus at the track. Well into his seventies, he was still a proficient hammer thrower, and in the past had broken a few records. He joined us in the Sussex Vets League a few times, and was always witty and talkative, as well as being a great asset to the team. Hamilton taught me to throw the hammer, and was extremely patient and encouraging; a great mentor. He will be sadly missed. There is a picture of Hamilton in the gallery of this web site.
His funeral will be held at The Chapel, Lewes Cemetery, on Thursday 28th May at 2:30pm. Anyone who wishes to attend is very welcome. Afterwards there will be some refreshments laid on in the community room within the sheltered housing scheme where he lived, at Clevedown, Barons Down Road, Lewes.
