Great top twenty age group results for Lewes AC runners in the Phoenix 10K
Twenty is very much a lucky number for the 26 athletes that took part in the Phoenix 10K race along the Brighton and Hove sea front. With over 560 runners in the race 20 of the Lewes AC runners finished in the top twenty in their respective age group categories.
Leading the Lewes runners at the sharp end of the race was David Bradford who finished 7th overall with a time of 33mins 55secs. Next for Lewes in the senior men category was Tim Calliafas in 25th position overall with a time of 36mins 18secs.
It was in the men aged over 40 category where Lewes AC had six runners in the top twenty. Leading this group was Lewis Sida in 17th position overall and 4th in the age category with a time of 34.32. Next in the group was Mike Ellicock in 6th position with a time of 35.08 followed by Andrew Masters in 10th position with 36.33. Allan Jackson was next man over 40 with 37.45 followed by Lee Woodgate with 37.37. Filling the 20th slot was Mark Cage who finished with a time of 38.18.
Moving up to the men aged over 50 Jonathon Burrell had a fine run to finish 5th in this age group with his time of 37.34 followed by Martin Komen in 10th position with 40.20. Ian Fines finished in15th place with a time of 41.03 with Dominic Osman-Allu finishing with 41.50 well inside the top twenty in the group.
Having another remarkable run in the men aged over 60 category was Andrew Chitty who finished second in this age group with a time of 41.37 and David Feintuck finishing 19th in the age group with a time of 57.54.
Not to be out done by the men it was the Lewes AC women runners that yet again out preformed the men. Joscelin Lowden had yet another great race to finish second senior women with a time of exactly 40mins. In 5th position in this age category was Megan Taylor with a time of 41.36. In the next age group of women aged over 35 Sally Norris finished in 7th position with a time of 42.18.
It was in the women aged over 45 group that there was a great success with Helen Sida winning the category with 41.09. Also finishing in the top twenty in this category was Lisa Jackson in 18th position in 49.07.
There was also another great run in the women aged over 55 category where Karin Divall finished second with a time of 44.21.
