Busy Weekend for Lewes AC athletes at Bromley and Hastings

There was much action over the weekend with two track and field league matches a tough Downland run and two road races. The senior athletes were at Bromley competing in the Southern Athletics league and the junior athletes were at Hastings in a UK Young Athletes League match. In the Bromley match Lewes held third position against some strong London Clubs. Blackheath and Bromley took first position with Croydon in second place. At the Hasting match there was much more of a local flavour with the competition including teams from Medway, Brighton, Hastings, Eastbourne and Worthing where again Lewes took the third spot.

In a good overall performance by the Lewes team at Hastings there were eleven Lewes athletes taking first position in their events. Livvy Connor was first in two events starting with winning the U15W 200m in a time of 27.5secs and winning the U15W pole vault with a vault of 3.10m. Luca Bish also won two events with a win in the U15B high jump with 1.35m and first in the U15B pole vault with 2.10m. Aiden Briffett won his U15B 800m race in a time of 2.19.5

Lewes athletes were particularly strong in the field events with Ella James winning her U17W age high jump with a jump of 1.55m and Bryce Williams-Watson wining his U17M pole vault in a new personal best of 3.50m. In the throws there were two Lewes wins in the shot put with Luke Staple winning the U17M event with 9.41m and Myles Bickmore-Vaughan his U13B event in 6.59m. There were also two wins in the javelin event with Scott Staples winning the U15M (A) with 31.28m and Connor Sullivan the (B) event with 20.10m. In the U17M hammer event Yash Rogers won with a personal best of 17.80m.
