A fist full of medals for Lewes AC under 13 athletes
At the Sussex under 13 championships held at the Withdean Stadium on the 3rd July the Lewes AC young athletes won nine championship medals.
Anouska Fairhurst led the medal haul with two gold medals. She won the javelin with a throw of 37.13 which was a Championship best throw and just a touch below her personal best. Her gold medal in the discus event was won with a throw of 26.58m.
Gemma Tutton had a fantastic new personal best in the high jump with a jump 1.45m which earned her the bronze medal.
There were gold and silver medal winners in the 800m race with Aaron Duncan winning the race with a time of 2mins 25.9 secs and Ben Goodwin earning the silver medal with a time of 2mins 26.7secs.
In the boys long jump competition with 26 competitors Ben Goodwin was just squeezed out of the medal position with a jump of 4.50m closely followed by Ori Bartle in 5th position with a jump of 4.20m. Making up for this near miss Ori Bartle made amends by winning the bronze medal in the shot putt competition with a putt of 6.72m. Also winning a bronze medal was Hector Summers who threw 26.97m in the boy’s javelin competition.
With another near miss Ori Bartle came 4th in the 150m race with a time of 20.6secs which was also equalled by Aaron Duncan.
The Lewes AC boy’s team won the bronze medal in the 4x100m relay race just behind teams from Crawley AC and Horsham Blue Star.
In the 3000m race for boys under 15 which was run as part of the under 13 championships Atticus Mohapy-Dobour won the gold medal with a time of 10mins 47.71secs.
