Welcome to Lewes Athletic Club
Success Through Enjoyment
As a member of the Lewes Athletic Academy you will be joining an athletic team, training and competing across running, jumping and throwing events.  We expect athletes to train regularly, and compete in Sussex League Track and Field and Cross Country competitions as part of a Lewes AC team.  They don’t have to have experience of athletics, just enthusiasm and be willing to have a go and do their best.

If you/your child are interested in joining please read the information below and then register your young athlete’s interest with the Club by filling in our registration form, and then, as spaces become available, we will contact you. Please note the youngest year group we accept into the Academy is Year 5.

Session size: We aim to keep all training group sessions to 20 per age group – this allows the coaches to give a good level of support and focus on each athlete, and ensures the Coaches can work with the athletes to meaningfully support their progress.

Entry to a specialist group, remains to be by invitation, however should your young athlete have an interest in a discipline, they should formerly express their interest and discuss with the coaches at Academy Training or email academy@lewesac.co.uk.

Membership Fees are the same whether your young athlete attends Academy and/or Specialist Event Training only, the fees are paid by all and cover Track Maintenance, Insurances, Coaching Qualifications & Training, Admin Software, Licences, Utilities, DBS checks etc. Fees are £15 per month. When young athletes reach the under-17 group (aged 15 and 16, school years 10 and 11) the club’s annual membership fee will apply. The Academy fee and the older age group annual membership fee include free entry to the track on club nights, Saturday morning and when the club uses the indoor facilities at the Lewes Leisure Centre.

Club requirement: to compete a minimum 3 times per year for the Club, if your young athlete needs direction and support on which events and competitions they should be entering please do contact the Coaching team, either at the weekly training sessions or via email academy@lewesac.co.uk our focus is, and remains, to be on participation and personal progress.

Club Vest: When competing for the club a Lewes AC vest is required. For the Academy athletes in the under 13 and under 11 age group a club vest is provided for that event by the club. When academy athletes reach the under 15 age group a club vest is provided automatically as part of the academy fees. For under 17 athletes a one-off joining fee of £30 is charged and a voucher is given which can be exchanged at Intersport of Lewes for a club running vest.

England Athletics: When you become a member of or renew your membership with Lewes Athletic Club, the club will automatically pay for and register you as an affiliated member of England Athletics. We will provide England Athletics with limited personal information to ensure your affiliation with the Sport’s Governing Body. This information will be stored by England Athletes who will inform you it can be accessed via an online portal called myATHLETICS. Should you wish you may add to or update your myATHLETICS portal. It is a condition of membership of Lewes AC that club members are affiliated to England Athletics to enable you to compete in a range of competitions. If you have any questions about the data stored by England Athletics please contact dataprotection@englandathletics.org.
