The Lewes Community Athletics Track to be resurfaced
Starting on Monday 24th August the track will be closed for 8 weeks whilst the old surface is removed completely and then replaced with a brand new synthetic surface.
Completed in 1999 and having over 46,000 individual uses in a year the track surface is now showing signs of wear. The Lewes club having raised the £658,000 to build the community track in the first place has again led the work to put together a £158,000 funding package to enable the resurfacing works to be undertaken.
In addition to a large financial contribution by the club towards the resurfacing work there has also been significant financial and professional help from East Sussex County Council, the Lewes Town Council, Priory School, Sussex Downs College, Wave Leisure and Sussex and England Athletics.
