Lewes AC runners triumph in the Hastings Half Marathon
With 3,000 runners in the 13.1 mile Hastings Half Marathon there were some stunning results for Lewes AC runners racing in their respective age group categories. The Bradford brothers not only had an amazing race in their 18 to 39 age group but also were also 6th and 9th overall in the race. Matt finished 5th in his age group in a time of 72mins 35secs and David finished 8th in a time of 75mins 31secs. Also performing well in this age group was Ed Tuckley who had a great run to finish 50th in the group with a time of 72mins 24secs.
Leading the women in the same 18 – 39 age group and having a personal battle in the race were Joscelin Lowden and Lara Barazzuol who finished 3rd and 4th out of the 583 runners in this age group. Joscelin Lowden claiming 3rd spot finished in a time of 86mins 09secs with Lara Barazzuol 17 seconds behind in 4th with a time of 86mins 26secs. Competing really well in the same age group were Megan Taylor (12th – 93mins 44secs); Sarah Godley (23rd – 93mins 44secs) and Shelley Cornes (36th – 102mins 20secs)
Moving up in the women’s age group category to the 45 to 49 age group Helen Sida came through to gain 2nd place in a time of 91mins 35secs. Dropping down an age group to the 40 to 44 age group Karen Morse was 17th in 108mins 16secs and Sue Juncal 67th in 122mins 43secs.
In the men’s 40 to 44 age group with 276 runners there were six Lewes runners led by Chris Gilbert having another great run following his success in the Lewes Marathon to finish in 3rd position in a time of 75mins 42secs. Mike Green was 16th in 88mins 11secs; Mat Homewood 22nd in 89mins 28secs; Carl Dowling 68th in 103mins; Mark Wilson 71st 103mins 22secs and Jonathon West 139th in 113mins 33secs.
With 255 runners in the 45 to 49 age group Allan Jackson pulled out the stops to claim 3rd spot in a time of 83mins 29secs which also placed him 51st overall in the 3,000 person race. There were also some great results in the next men’s age group the 50 to 54 category. Dominic Osman-Allu was 10th in 90mins 17secs: Simon Roberts 39th in 98mins 54secs and David Foster 46th in 100mins 10secs. Showing that there is life still in his legs Bob Hughes finished 5th in the 65 to 69 age category with a time of 108mins 27secs.
