England age group championships

After Rob Mullets great run in the British indoor senior championships 3000m last week in Sheffield, finishing a fantastic 4th. The focus now moves to the clubs junior athletes for the England age group championships in Sheffield on the 28th Feb & 1st March.

Sam Rogers U17M competes in the heats of the 800m starting at 17.00 on Saturday and if successful the final will be on Sunday at 12.45.

Freya Fitchett U15G takes to the Pole Vault runway at 10.30 on Saturday morning and with UK ranking of 4th should be looking at a top five finish.

Freya is followed by Livvy Connor U20W onto the Vault runway at 13.15. Livvy last years U17 vault winner may struggle to get near the medal places, having now moved up an age group and is suffering from a loss of form.

Livvy Connor will also compete in the U20W 60m hurdle heats at 16.25. Fresh from her win and pb at the Sussex champs Livvy is a little uneasy at having to use blocks for the first time due to the electronic timing at Sheffield. If it works the final is at 18.15.

First up on Sunday at 10.30 will be Millie Hemsley in the U17W Vault. In a very strong field Millie will be looking to further improve her indoor p.b. from 3.03m as she did last weekend at Vault London.

The final two Lewes entrants take the stage in the U15B Pole Vault at 14.00.
Jack Harris & Bill Saunders are both in good form having both broken the club record already this year. Jack first in January with 3.30m followed by Bill last weekend at Vault London with 3.43m, this ranks Bill UK no 2 and Jack UK no 4 going into the championships and between them hold the clubs best chance of a medal.

Well done in gaining the stiff qualification marks and good luck to all.
