Great age group performances by Lewes AC members in Brighton 10K
A total of 27 Lewes AC runners took up the challenge of the Brighton 10 Kilometre race along the Brighton and Hove seafronts. In almost perfect running conditions nearly 3,000 runners from all over the Country took part in the popular race. Of the 27 Lewes AC runners competing 23 achieved seasonal best times with a number of members beating their life time best by many minutes.
Sprinkled through the age group categories there were some significant achievements by Lewes runners. First home for Lewes in 60th position overall was Ben Savill who was 2nd in the under 20 age category with a time of 35mins 06secs.
In the over 40 age category Chris Gilbert despite being accidentally sent flying by another runner and falling heavily at 2k managed to set another personal best of 35mins 34secs by coming in 5th in his age category and 69th overall. Also doing well in this over 40 age category of nearly 500 runners and breaking the 40 minute barrier were Lewis Sida (9th in 36.34) Allan Jackson (17th in 37.34) Colin Bennett (23rd in 38.29) Lee Woodgate (35th in 39.12 and a 2 min Personal Best) and Mike Green (51st in 39.38)

Beating his previous best time by nearly nine minutes was Gustavo Iriate with a time of 41mins 39secs. Despite having a great run there was a tinge of disappointment for Mauro Lazzati who only just failed to beat his 40 minute target by 36seconds.
In the senior women’s category of over 400 runners and first home for Lewes AC was Lara Barazzuol in 17th position beating her personal best by over 4 minutes with a time of 40mins 57secs. Megan Taylor with a massive personal best of over 5 minutes finished in 57th position in a time of 47mins 32secs.
Relentlessly moving up the women’s age groups categories other finishers with great age group times and positions were Lisa Jackson (W45: 46th in 50.19) Jane Boyes (W35: 126th in 50.50) Liz Hilton (W45: 60th in 51.25) and Bev Sheridan (W55: 24th in 55.55)
