Sussex Athletics League at Hastings

There were mixed fortunes for the Lewes AC team at Hastings on Saturday 20th July. With only two women being able to be part of the team it was left to the men to keep the show on the road. This they did with a particularly good performance by Chris Pilling who competed in seven events and scored one fifth of the Lewes AC points (30) He won the Pole Vault, the Triple Jump and gained second position points in the 110m hurdles, High Jump, Discus and Hammer – truly a renaissance man.

Other great and notable performances included Mark Rahman setting a new club record for the Veteran’s 100m in a time of 12.7 seconds and Matt Grant also setting a under 20 shot record with a shot of 12.77m. The best record of the day however must go to Livvy Connor who not only won the Pole vault but did so by setting a new League record with a height of 3.40m

In the end Lewes AC with 153 points came third behind Hastings with 300.5 points, and Chichester with165.5 points but in front of Invicta Kent with 122 points.
