Cold and muddy but still a win for Lewes AC

On Sunday 13th Jan 26 Lewes AC runners went to Snape Wood at Wadhurst to do battle against seven other clubs in the fourth of six Sunday cross country races.

Over a 5 mile course with steep hills and really muddy tracks the Lewes team was victorious and is now two points clear of Hailsham Harriers with two matches still to go.

First for Lewes AC in 9th position was the 50 year old work horse John Lowden in a time of 34.05 and the first 50 year old in the race closely followed by Andrew Masters in 11th position in 34.31. Packed together in 16th to 19th positions were Pablo Ibarcuren 16th 36.06, Chris Hunt 18th in 36.15 and Colin Bennett 19th with a time of 36.55

Sally Norris was first Senior Woman to finish in the race in a time of 37.56 having jumped over the first Hailsham female runner who fell in the run up to the finish. All’s fair in cross country! Since coming back to serious competition John is gradually working his way through his age group competitors and improving in every race. Alf Pollard was second over 65 in 94th place (47.47). Bob Hughes was second over 60 man one place and three seconds behind John Coleman in (46.34).
