Internatioanl Success for Dave and Alf
David Bradford competing in the Berlin Marathon and Alf Pollard competing the World Duathon Championships in Nancy in France both came away with some stunning results.
With over 40,000 competitors in the Berlin Marathon David’s 42nd place overall and 16th in his age group in a time of 2hours 28mins 51secs was a really fabulous effort.
In the battle of the Brits David was second out of the 3,500 UK Nationals that took part in the marathon. This without doubt is a tremendous effort and a new club record.
Alf Pollard competing in the World Duathon in France over the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of September achieved a brilliant 4th place in his age group (M70-74). Alf was also the first placed British competitor in the age group.
The race was a 10.6k run, then a 40k cycle followed by another run of 5.3k. Alf’s times for the three phases were 51:47, 1:15:50 and 26:26. Beaten only by an Italian, an American and a German Alf was the first Brit home. Congratulations to both David and Alf on two outstanding performances
