PBs aplenty on the prom

Twenty members of Lewes AC took part in the Hove Prom 10K road race on Sunday. Despite a noticeable south-westerly breeze, several athletes recorded personal best (PB) performances on the pan-flat, two-lap promenade course.

In a race won by Neil Boniface (Horsham Joggers) in 32mins 02secs, the Lewes club’s top finisher was David Bradford, who placed third in 33:15, equalling his PB for the distance. It was David’s final tune-up race before the Berlin Marathon on 30th September. Next home for Lewes was Tom Morris, who finished fifth in 34:22. David’s brother Matt continued his fight back to fitness following a minor tendon injury, also finishing inside the top-10, in seventh place in 35:10.

The club’s other finishers were Robbie James (13th, 36:07); Alan Velecky (25th, 37:32 – PB); Lewis Sida (33rd, 38:46 – PB); Pablo Ibarguren (37th, 38:55 – PB); Allan Jackson (38th, 38:56 – PB); Chris Hunt (40th, 39:02 – PB); Tim Calliafas (49th, 39:38); Mat Homewood (57th, 40:33 – PB); Miles Seavill (63rd, 41:28); Mauro Lazzati (64th; 41:31); Andrew Chitty (81st, 42:53 – PB); Michael Green (82nd, 43:03); Dominic Baker (84th, 43:17); Tony Deacon (88th, 43:28); Karin Divall (128th, 46:47); Charlotte Chapman (162nd, 50:47); and David Feintuck (186th, 53:14).

The club is hopeful that this strong team effort will, when the results are finalised, put them at the top of the Sussex 10K Challenge leader-board – a five-race championship involving all Sussex clubs.

The next race in the series is the Brighton 10K, on 18th November.
