Triple whammy for Lewes at Heathfield 10k

Lewes AC took a magnificent triple at the Heathfield 10k last Sunday, June 24th: first and second individual places, plus the team win. The club’s David Bradford led from gun to tape over the hilly country lane course, winning in 34mins 33secs, 42secs ahead of club-mate Tom Morris in second. Bradford was pleased with his run, having already covered 70 miles in training in the week leading up to the race.

“I’m ramping up the mileage in training for the Berlin marathon,” he said, “so I wasn’t sure how my legs would respond. It felt hard today; I knew Tom [Morris] wouldn’t give up, and he’s in good shape, so I couldn’t relax.”

The other two athletes making up the winning team of four were Mauro Lazzati, who finished 25th in 41mins 50secs and, just one second behind him, in 26th spot, Chris Gilbert, making a fine debut for the club.

The other Lewes AC finishers were: 27th Lewis Sida 41:53; 28th Simon Thomas 42:01; 103rd Bob Hughes 50:09; and 119th Matthew Oades 51:25.
