Lewes AC athletes selected for English Schools
Lewes athlete Emilie Blackwell will be making her third appearance and Bryce Williams-Watson his second at the English Schools National Championships at Gateshead. They will be joined by first timers Hannah Macdonald and Matt Dingle on the 660 mile round trip to Gateshead together with the rest of the 60 strong Sussex schools team.
To be selected to compete in the English Schools Championships is a major achievement and follows great performances by the athletes at local, district and county schools championships. Selection also follows achieving the very demanding and English Qualification Standards. The Sussex team leave on Thursday morning 4th July and highlights from Friday’s events and live coverage of Saturday events can be found on SKY sports 2.
Emilie Blackwell was a bronze medallist in the pole vault at last years English Schools intermediate age group. This year she will be competing in the Senior Girls pole vault and will be looking to again secure a medal. Her event will be on Friday at 16.00hrs.
Bryce Williams-Watson will be looking to better his 2010 Junior boys 10th place in the Inter Boys Pole Vault on Friday at 13.00.
Matt Dingle will compete in the Junior Boys Javelin on Friday at 12.00 and Hannah Macdonald is in a very strong field in the Inter Girls Pole Vault starting at 10.00 on Saturday.
A number of Juniors Lewes AC athletes have been selected to represent Sussex and an inter-county schools event to be held at Kingston- upon-Thames in Surrey. The athletes are Naomi Lee (Hammer), Millie Cable (200m), Rhys Camis (Long Jump and 100 or 200), Bryce Williams Watson, James Shackleton and Hannah Macdonald in the Pole Vault
