Adult Track and Field

Adults have the opportunity to be coached in all the throws and jumping track and field events including track endurance events.

Those members or potential new members that wish to take on a new event are advised to contact the club or any of the event specific coaches for exact details and timing of coaching.

Race Walking  (also includes  speed walking,  power walking, fast walking  or just walking!)

Many will have seen walkers hot footing it around the track especially on a Saturday morning some are doing 10k ( 25 laps ) others doing fast intervals work.

Training schedule that are set by the coach are quite similar to running endurance sessions. One big difference is the technique required for walking basically one foot on the ground at all times and preferably with a straight leg during the initial contact with the ground. It may sound difficult and look hard to achieve but it is in fact relatively easy with the correct training.

Training is held most Saturday mornings or either Wednesday or Thursday afternoons. Other sessions are arranged as necessary and introductory training courses are planned during the Spring and Summer.

All club members across all ages and standards have the opportunity to race walk and join with others in a very friendly but competitive part of athletics.  The race walking coach Pete Selby can be contacted at pwselby@hotmail.co.uk or just turn up at one of the sessions.
